Stuck on You

This entry is from September of 2011, and though two years have passed since its composition, my penchant for Harry Potter has only grown. Today’s Throwback Thursday is a celebration of the things that stick with us.

I came to the series late in my life, and it’s one I return to over and over again. My sister and Dad are solely responsible for showing me what this book series could be.

I have yet to visit the park in Florida, but the ‘Return to Hogwarts’ mentioned in the following entry was a similar effort, only in miniature.

Check out Luna Lovegood! Isn’t she fabulous?

Along with Harry, there are a number of things that have stuck with me; things that never fail to take me to a happy place – whether by memory or in action. Walking in the woods, a pink bear my grandpa won for me at a state fair when I wasn’t quite 3, pens fit for writing, my parents’ high school yearbooks, the Beatles’ Rubber Soul album, Anne of Green Gables, my Mom’s rice christine, and fuzzy caterpillars. Just a few, but plenty to fill me up.

What has stood the test of time for you? How are you transported to your happy place? Any Potter fans out there??

Watching classic movies like Gene Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, or Audrey Hepburn. Reading books is another because you are able to be transported to the place in the book. I Love Harry Potter!

Love HP. And that Luna costume is TO DIE FOR :) I’ve been to the park in Florida, and let me tell you, it’s so wonderful. I hope you get the chance to go someday.

This post made me so happy.

I’m always happy to share my love of Potter. Any tips on how to best spend time in the park? I’ve heard wondrous things about the butterbeer!

Oh, Potter definitely has been a source of joy in my past! When I was a sophomore in high school, at the height of my HP-dazzled days, an owl started perching consistently on the roof outside my window. I would wrap myself in my black robe, turn on a Harry Potter soundtrack, and watch the owl for hours.

It’s probably a different owl these days, but I still wake up to the hooting outside my window every now and then, and I smile.
